Had planned to make chicken, leek and ham pie for lunch, but no double cream in shops!
Can I use creme fraiche instead?

I'm going to start making my own pork pies again, can't find anything in shops I like
I like pork pies. I just dont like the pastry the Melton Mowbary ones use. I dont know if its something specific to their pastry because other pork pies with hot water crust pastry is fine.

Nice job. Who doesn't love a pie? A whole world of delicious pastry-wrapped delights awaits you now.
Was in our local gastro-pub recently and another customer asked what the pie of the day was. "Cottage pie" was the answer! Definitions from Oxford Languages
pie
/pʌɪ/
noun
a baked dish of fruit, or meat and vegetables, typically with a top and base of pastry.
"a meat pie"
A pie does not have only a mashed potato top. A mashed potato top would be aceptable on a pastry base though. sherman said:

How can you not like a *genuine* Melton Mowbray pork pie. Excellent.
Tried many times. I just dont like them but a pork pie from almost anywhere else and I know I will like it. Extra jelly please

More mace with a thin and crispy hot water crust with extra jelly, maybe a bit fancy with a bit of mustard powder as well
Serve room temp with pickled veg
