Decent Vacuum Flasks
Discussion
Any recommendations? We've got a variety of travel mugs and cheap flasks but none that effective, so really need a proper vacuum flask.
Something to keep coffee hot for a good 8-10 hours. Budget is £30-40, maybe a little higher if it's really worth the extra (although I'd be expecting some sort of NASA spec flask for more than £50
)
Capacity needs to be 2 litres (although buying a couple of cheaper 1 litre flasks would also work)
TIA

Having read a thread on here somewhere, i bought one of these:
https://thermos.co.uk/superlight-direct-drink-flas...
and its been brilliant.
Based on my experience i would recommend any of the Thermos's (?)
eg
https://thermos.co.uk/light-and-compact-flask1l at £25
or this, if your Thermos must float!(boaty types/fisher folk)

I suspect you might struggle for properly hot coffee for 10 hours, but still perfectly drinkable after that time should be fine I’d say.
We have a largish (1.5 litre?) fairly standard Thermos with plastic cups on the top that does the above. It is traditional glass inside though, so you don’t want to drop it. From the Thermos site linked above, there are 1.2 litre ones which are steel inside too which is presumably rather more durable. They claim 24 hour hot but that probably depends on definition of hot.....!

Pre-warming helps a lot. However i often DONT pre-warm my Thermos as its too bWe have a largish (1.5 litre?) fairly standard Thermos with plastic cups on the top that does the above. d hot to drink for hours! Not quite the capacity you require but I've had a Thermos Work series flask that I've been using on site for the last 10 plus years. As others have said drop of boiling water in then flush out. Still very hot by 3 in the afternoon, as you can imagine it's been dropped, thrown around etc and still performs like the first day I had it.
the larger the capacity, the hotter the drink will stay after a given time interval.
eg 1 litre of coffee in a 1 litre container will be hotter than 500ml of coffee made at the same time in a 500ml container.
I like thermos. I have tested it and drinks remain hot at 10h in the litre sized one. Less hot in the smaller one. Mine are the metal lined ones.

You still cant beat a Thermos.

I use a large stainless 'air pot'. <£20:00 from Amazon and it keeps water hotter than a glass 1.8L Thermos flask for significantly longer. I use it for boiling water and have a large capacity as a means of extending the water's useful period. The top remains sealed all day and it can still produce very hot water for tea at the end of a long day. Something to keep coffee hot for a good 8-10 hours. A glass flask can't do this because they do not have the capacity and a stainless flask of the conventional type is only good for keeping your milk fresh.
The key to keeping flask contents hot is keeping the flask full. As soon as you leave any space the contents will lose heat at a much faster rate than if the vessel is full. 2x1L would definitely be better, maybe even 4x500ml.
I’ve got a couple of Thermos Thermocafe flasks and travel cups and they will easily keep things hot for 12 hours if they’re full. They’re also pretty light and durable.
