There was mention of Bernard Mathews Turkey products on another thread. Apparently his old Lexus is now up for sale.

It got me pondering, not about old Lexi, but about the whole Bernard Mathews poultry product topic.

Even though I shouldn't and even though I have just passed my half century on this earth, I am still partial to a few Turkey Kievs (Kyivs), baked beans and potato smiles with a round of bread and butter. I have enjoyed this since I was a child back in the 80s, when this sort of thing made a regular appearance on many a dinner table, as we walked in from school.

What guilty food pleasures do you enjoy but perhaps shouldn't?

Had a nice pot noodle yesterday, however everyone likes them here!

However my guilty pleasure is these, by the jar full

We occasionally have a "kids" evening meal (we call it a kids meal but I wouldn't have actually fed my children it!), usually comprising sausages, hash browns or potato waffles and baked beans, yum!

Yep. that works for me too. Maybe a bit of barbecue sauce on the side. the sausages have to be decent quality, though.

Fray Bentos chicken pies. My mum used to cook them for me with some mash and veg as a kid. I know they are probably made out of chickens aholes but the pasty is pretty tasty and I can't help having one every once in a while.

Fried Spam on toast. Hadn't had it for years but saw some on offer so had some recently. Used to have it all the time as a kid.

I used to love these, the proper old-school ones that had a slice of cheese on top of the bacon. Salty beyond belief, but very addictive - I used to eat them with a load of baked beans, good times! biggrin

I used to love Turkey Twizzlers. Would often eat one as I was plating them up for my Son when he was tiny.

Nowadays it's a bit more upper class

(Well, not so much any more. Used to be a guilty pleasure, but a few years back we were redoing the kitchen so only had a microwave to cook with, ended up eating too many of the things over a couple of weeks, so don't enjoy them like I used to)

That is just plain weird. And this is coming from someone who likes Marmite on toast dipped in tomato soup and the odd pizza sandwich!

We used to eat Spam and cheese on toast regularly when I was growing up (or spam and cheese toasties). I've had it a few times recently for the nostalgia effect and it's lovely!

A tin of spam is more expensive than I expected so maybe it's an ok product! #WishfulThinking
