Slummed it this morning with a visit to Starbucks, Maypole, Birmingham.
Apart from the bored looking staff (at 9.30am) I was surprised that Starbucks mow charge 5p for a throw away cup!!!!
Third world problem I know but since when have they charged for cups????
Rant over. Back too work now.
Oh yes. £3.20 for a 500ml bottle of what Starbucks claim too be 'freshly squeezed' orange juice!!!
I did ask if they knew exactky when it was freshly squeezed.
Store manager thought I was being sarcastic. Which I was.....

Starbucks lobs tons of sugar and grease into everything.
Paninis: dripping with lard
Cakes: can't taste anything through the high fructose corn syrup or whatever it is.
I tried the 'overnight oats' (stop sniggering at the back Jenkins) and it was pretty good apart from the bottom layer where they felt it necessary to put in some sort of fruit paste which they described as a 'compote' but which just tasted of...sugar.
Sometimes when they do the origin coffees it is OK but its going down the tubes.

Never liked Starbucks, when I tried them a couple of times the coffee always seemed without taste.
Prefer Costa
Ditto. Prefer Costa
Starbucks americano always tastes burnt to me.
Slightly off topic, but one 5th Nov we fancied a coffee to warm up after the fireworks display. Starbucks in darkness, Costa queued out the door and coining it in. They missed a trick. Maybe Costa have a more flexible way of working or just an on the ball manager.

I love Starbucks. Absolutely my favourite coffee and snack outlet by a mile.
I know they get a lot of hate on here, but I much prefer their coffee and other drinks over everyone else. Nero, Costa, Greggs, Pret etc. I find the coffee far too strong and bitter everywhere else, and it seems so mellow and pleasant at Starbucks. I imagine thats the reason why so many people on here dislike them, as they would prefer stronger coffee.
Starbucks Eggnog Latte at Christmas is amazing
As you were.

I did try to engage with Starbucks customer service after being unable to finish my first ever Americano from one of their outlets.
I had a sort of burnt clutch aroma.
I explained that it tasted burnt & that a 2 minute google search would find hundreds of others who agreed with me.
The `conversation` went back & forth a little but there was no interest in my opinion.
I'm really not fussy & exist on freeze dried most of the time.
I was offered a number of free drink vouchers which showed how little notice they had taken.

I was briefly acquainted with someone like that (a professional person) once, she was rather lardy looking.I’ve heard all sorts of names in my time, but that…
Not a fan either... Step daughter raved about them so one day the Mrs and I met her there, my black coffee looked the colour of mud and tasted of not very much, the Mrs is a tea drinker which to be fair is not really Starbuck's selling point but she wasn't impressed either - step daughter on the other hand had a megafrappamochachocalatte or something equally unpronounceable which looked (and probably tasted) nothing like a coffee and decided it was the best thing since sliced bread.
Each to their own and all that but never again, I'd guess the (very untrendy) Mrs and I are long way from their target market but it takes some doing for a black coffee to look and taste worse than a cup of instant.

I too find Starbucks tastes burnt. No idea why anyone buys it.Starbucks americano always tastes burnt to me.
It's not coffee for people who actually like and appreciate good coffee, like myself.
To me, Costa is the best of the established chains, McDonalds is good and only 99p, I do try my best to seek out an independant though most of the time.

Starbucks used to be the best coffee shop in my opinion but over recent years, they’ve fallen off a cliff in terms of quality and customer service.
I like my coffee hot and they always serve it warm. My local one is always under staffed too and they seem to hire anyone, by anyone I mean people with zero experience in being a barista.
I think the reason quality has dropped is down to them franchising and not being strict enough on the owners. Lack of training, always low on ingredients and poor food quality.
I get the bottom line being profit but Starbucks shouldn’t throw their reputation away to make franchise owners more money.
It’s the same with KFC, they’re popping up everywhere and the quality of the food and customer service is ridiculous!
Pret is my go too, waiting time is minimal, always over staffed and the quality in food and coffee is 100 times better than Starbucks
