Well may have been milts, but John West and sainsburys used to label it as Roe.

JW stopped years ago and sainsburys seem to as well, google doesnt help other than buying fresh, anyone know why no tinned available anymore?

Waitrose branches used to sell frozen herring roes/'milts' at the fish counters, however must admit haven't seen this offered since pre-Covids. Must admit not seen tinned herring roes, as mentioned above only seen tinned Cod before.

You can get lumpfish caviar roe from Waitrose or Sainsburys - which will have a long shelf life before opening?

dont really like caviar. too salty. the herring roe had a very slightly caustic aftertaste that was oddly pleasant probably heavy metals!!
