I am sick of food having chilli and other stuff added to it to "liven" it up. If the food isn't good enough on its own, just improve it. Every single part of your body is made from food. All your organs, all your processing ability is made from the food you eat. Where the **** does a burnt tongue and other end in the morning come in?

Username checks out. biggrin

But I know what you mean. Too much burny-burny means way less tasty-tasty.

I use that as a guide when considering venturing back....

Spices made from red burny things, dried and ground (paprika, cayenne, chopotle etc.) I eat all day and add to anything. The ones made from green burny things are vile. The same colour code applies to bell peppers.

green peppers have their place, a bit of bitterness rather than the sweetness you get from more ripe peppers.

As far as green chilis go, they're vital to a lot of Mexican and South American cooking. Jalapenos, poblanos, serranos all good.

Many a good chicken with green chilli's enjoyed in my local curry house, also lots of nice green chilli's in Thai food.

Lovely.

Had a lovely hot Thai beef salad at a local place the other night.

Refreshing yet so spicy it rendered my jasmine tea to just liquid agony.

Couldn't stop eating it though, even as it took away my ability to talk and see.

If the food is just hot rather than taste, it's just bad food. The heat should be incidental.

Not all hot spices are equal.

Taste is key.

I agree there, not a huge fan of the horseradish sinus burn. A nice wholegrain mustard is about as much as I like in that direction.

Much more of a chilli and pepper fan.
