…. Because it’s utterly useless…

It tears all the time coming off the roll, refuses to be cut by the cutting strip and is generally not fit for purpose.

I looked at Tesco online and all they have is PVC free….

I suggest you try a catering cling film (300mm x 300m).

Generally better quality and comes in a proper sturdy cutter box and cutter.

I use them every day and don’t experience the problems you describe.

What do you use it for, I've swapped to a few alternatives that are just better. Use things like wax wraps for sandwiches and to wrap look up like cheese etc. Some good reusable solutions about.

90% of the time its just wrapping a half used onion or pepper Id say.

Sainsbury’s used to be hopeless, wouldn’t stick to anything, but the new one (PVC free) has gone completely the other way - it’s so sticky you can barely get it off the roll. When you do get some off the roll it collapses onto itself so you end up with not so much a sheet as a piece of string.

Sainsbury’s is now garbage, gets stuck inside my dispenser and is a total nightmare.
Have turned to the M&S one now and works well.

Get yourself googling or on amazon/ebay. There are definitely reusable options, made of silicone I think, no more pissing about with clingfilm.

Foil is no use for catching flies

(seriously, creep up on the little bds with a sheet of clingfilm, they don’t see it until it’s too late, then you have them)

I've found not all PVC free cling film is equal.

Have struggled with some in the past (next to useless as per the OP) but I find the Tesco stuff fine now.

Unusual topic. But I’ve been using Bacofoil which is also pvc free and it’s ok. But much more expensive than own brand clingfilm, but turns out to be worth it on this occasion. It had a curved cutter on the box that actually works well (open the box carefully when new to not fk it up).

If you are not a Costco member, find someone who is and get them to get you catering foil and clingfilm

They are very very good and last ages !

Was about to post the same.
I think it has almost become a meme over what you should buy with your new Costco membership - their cling film.

The UK Plastics Pact have agreed to eliminate pvc cling film due to the environmental impact of waste pvc.

Many years ago, most European countries banned or restricted it because particle migration is too high, and deemed unsafe for wrapping food.

What material is it now then? Looked at the box but doesn’t say.

PE, unless they've come up with something new.
