Mrs UTH and I often don't eat the same thing. She doesn't like spicy food for a start which is a real blocker to us eating together, and often she's trying to be TOO healthy with a bowl of rabbit food.

I am more than happy spending an hour or so putting lots of effort into whatever I am cooking for myself. Whereas if she's cooking for herself she can't be bothered - I hate seafood, but she loves it, but she can never see the point in spending any amount of time cooking herself a nice fish dish. But I'll make myself curry from scratch, pastas, spicy rice things.....all sorts. And simply love doing it, couldn't care less it's just for me.

I enjoy cooking for myself, and when it's things like curries, lasagne, pies etc, I'll batch cook three or four portions at a time and put them in foil containers with lids and freeze them.

Apart from lasagne which I don't even know how to make a single portion, everything else I purposefully make just one portion as I like the process of cooking so much, despite often being asked why I don't make loads and freeze it.

I cook every night. I am the guy who wakes up in the morning and asks ''What do you want for dinner?''

I am always trying to make sure whatever we have, our daughter can have at nursery the next day. During holidays and down to lack of kids they don't have the caterers in so I have to prep 2 meals a day for her.

When I lived by myself years ago I loved cooking for myself. I'd happily freeze leftovers and have as lunch or have as lazy dinners on nights I couldn't be arsed to cook.

I am having to cook 2 meals tonight as I don't fancy what she wants but as she's going running I'll cook twice which is annoying. usually I just cook something so when she comes in she just has to heat some rice/pasta to go with it.

No I don't.

An hour of prep and cooking, 9 minutes of eating, 15 minutes of washing up.

Maybe not exactly those timings, but it's a lot of faff when it's just you - unless you get a kick out of cooking, which some do of course.

Nope, too much faff and washing up. If it was just me I'd be snacking at lunch and be eating out most nights.

No.

When I'm on my own, I consider cooking to be an inconvenience and a complete waste of time, and that I could be spending doing other stuff. When alone, my 'meals' usually consist of things like: Toast, a sandwich, a bottle of Huel, an oven pizza, a tin of soup, or a takeaway of some description. My meal choices are based on speed, convenience, and whatever will dirty the least number of plates, utensils, cutlery, etc.

Previously, I haven't enjoyed cooking for others either, or cooking at all, but recently I have started to have a go and make a few things.

Fortunately for me, my good lady wife enjoys cooking and is good at it, and she hates ready meals and frozen foods, so I'm not going to starve anytime soon smile

I live by myself, except the occasional/weekly visit by my daughter. I tend to batch cook on Sunday/Monday nights and freeze individual portions for the rest of the week, building up a few different dishes to last 2-3 weeks. Although will cook something fresh from scratch if daughter is over. Friday/Saturday tend to eat out or takeaway.

My favoured pizza place let me down for the second time a few weeks ago and I’ve yet to find a new one.

I cook almost everyday (sometimes I do some batch cooking) for myself and the wife.
However when she goes away I revert to 'bloke' and generally have Pizza, takeaway and fish and chips
The day before she comes back I go into panic mode to hide the evidence biggrin

Yes, when I lived alone I loved messing about with recipes, great way to learn to cook as I didn't need to feed/Impress anyone.

On the rare occasion now the house is empty and Mrs Tickle and the kids are out I love cooking something that only I enjoy.

I cook lots of seafood (and chips) because my wife likes neither.

Fortunately, see seems to dislike me too, because she's away quite often. yum

No, pointless. Loads of washing up, time consuming, makes a mess.
Just a load of effort and then when the food is cooked/ready I'm not hungry.

This, although she's rarely away and if she is I still have the kids to sort.

She pretty much doesn't cook, so if I'm away I do a massive vat of Bolognese so the kids don't have to live on cereal and boiled veg. biggrin
