I need some help in de-coding the L-Code on an old bottle of Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry.
Google is not really very helpful.

We have one bottle left from father-in -laws collection of Harveys Bristol Cream. He worked for Harveys all his working life. He died many years ago now.

It is a blue bottle, full and sealed.
L - 72461
NF 16230490 Jerez Xeres Sherry
On the base of the bottle F H 26

Many thanks

Brian Lacey.

Odd - it doesn't fit the normal numbering conventions at all - silly question but is it definitely 461?

The formatting does seem a little odd. It doesn't seem to follow the usual L four and five digit coding. You have had answers on SccobyNet explaining the code formats. In terms of value, as they explained elsewhere, probably a fiver a bottle or nothing considering potential age and bottle condition. Why not contact an auction house?

Thanks Dunkind.

It's the fact that the code is 'odd' and we know where the bottle came from that I am trying to explore all avenues/websites etc to get a definitive answer.
I have emailed Harveys/Whyte & Mackays but no response as of yet.

Cheers
Brian.

I would actually be inclined to contact the manufacturer and make some direct questioning on it

Interesting they say you should only store it for a year, where as wine you can leave for years ? (I think?).
