Any good/reasonable non-alcoholic wine recommendations?
Discussion
A question from my wife.
She likes a glass or two of wine with her evening meal (don't we all). However, she has often wondered whether to have the occasional non-alcoholic wine. She has tried the odd glass or two and not been impressed. Can any PHers recommend any reasonable non-alcoholic wines, white or red, she could enjoy?

Supermarket wines are not so good.

If you are thinking that it might be 'healthier' to have an alcohol free drink (rather than because you are driving etc) then make sure you check the labels - I bought a mixed case of alcohol free beers when I had a random Beer Hawk voucher as I'd heard they'd improved a lot, and some of them were so full of extras to give them flavour and texture that they had more calories in them than 'real' beers.
(eg. Hoegaarden 0,0 is all full of apple pulp and lactose)

Thanks TS.(eg. Hoegaarden 0,0 is all full of apple pulp and lactose)
I think my wife is interested because she likes a glass or two of wine but is a bit concerned about the alcohol content, hence the reason for her enquiries and searchings. From what you say, alcohol is going to be less damaging than the additives in the alcohol-free versions!

I'd recommend trying some nice Kombuchas, I've found that the nicer ones have a similar taste to wines. I'm a fan of You + I Kombuchas and teas

Probably not what you were looking for but when my wife was pregnant she enjoyed "noseccco" with elderflower cordial, it was indistinguishable from the alcoholic version.
My wife prefers the nosecco, to be honest i think its quite nice too. Most prosecco is utter s
te and decent stuff is rarely offered. Wedding I went to in the summer had prosecco and it was fowl, yet people are convinced its something decent, a triumph in marketing. I quite like some non alcohol beers too, I've tried loads of them and some are genuinely nice drinks regardless of alcohol content. Currently working my way through a slab of Pistonhead Flat Tire.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
