Prices up yet again. That's 2 increases in quick succession together with 10 instead of 8 stamps required on your loyalty card for a free drink.

Back to my coffee machine for me now.

£3.60 in East Devon for a medium size hot drink. Is this the same for other parts of the UK?

It's st anyway. Better than Starbucks though IMO, I do get one from time to time.. but I've knocked it on the head fully since their latest controversial ad campaign. Same price in Northants.

I must admit that the quality of the Coffee does seem to have declined over the last 12 months or so.

I haven’t bothered getting one since the last increase, you can get a jar of instant for the same price as one cup so I just make my own now.

Twas ever thus though. People don't buy fast/convenience foods because they are cheaper than they can make at home, they buy them because they are, well, convenient.

Out of interest, what sort of coffee machine do you have?

I did have a bean to cup machine which was okay and convenient, I upgraded to an espresso machine with milk steamer etc, but now I just can't be bothered with the faff.

I wonder if those automatic ones that steam the milk for you are any good.

We've got a few little independent coffee shops round here which are brilliant but just as pricey as CostaLot, I'd like to cut down on my coffee spend a little as it's getting hard to justify laugh

I went for the convenient option of a Tassimo which used pods.

Knew once it got sold out to coca cola it would just be used to milk as much money out of the consumer as possible.

If the machine coffee is still a drink option on Tesco meal deal, it's still useful for me. Then go to a store if there's a decent offer in the app.

Never been a fan of coffee shops, though Costa is a handy place to meet up with folk. A mate of mine loves Costa so we sometimes meet up there. Otherwise I never go in. After this price rise I'll be ordering the cheapest coffee they do next time I have to go biggrin

Costa and Nero are the best of them, but £2.60 for a double espresso is taking the proverbial. Even at only once a week in the office I will be investigating the alternatives in future.

Yet most of these shops are packed. Costs for me is the worst but Coffee number 1 was outstanding up until it was bought by Nero.
Now service is bad as they run with so few staff the wait is awful.
I much prefer to support local shops which are pretty good taste wise

I’ve a Breville one, not expensive, it automatically dumps the milk froth into your cup, the milk tank detaches and you keep it in the fridge. Less faff than traditional steam lance, but less customisation. Needs a proper clean out twice a week. Had DeLonghi machines before that, including one for the office which was Lidl branded, but was actually also a DeLonghi.

I’ve never rated Costa, they’re behind Starbucks for me, Nero seem the best of the chains, prefer the independents.

Yes, fast. Convenient and fast. Fast and convenient. The two main reasons people buy fast/convenience foods is because they are fast, and convenient.

Used to go a couple of times a week, I go less than once a month now despite there being one very close to my office, I don't think the coffee is even that good from Costa generally.

Not always easy, but i think it is always worth searching out the nearest 3rd wave / local / independent shop. Generally much higher quality, often cheaper and helping out small / local businesses etc.

I know that in some towns that Costa is the posh coffee shop though hehe

Agreed, though a bit like saying gonorrhea is better than HIV to be fair..

hate costa love starbucks

you gotta pay to play - everyone knows a jar of coffee is circa £4 which is less than a medium caramel macciato at my local starbucks lol but it doesnt hit the spot the same way a starbucks does when heading out for a day with the family
