Sunday Lunch- Oxford Recommendations
Discussion
Hi All
I’m taking the family (including MiL) to Oxford in a few weeks for a weekend and I’m looking for recommendations for a great traditional Sunday Lunch in or not far from the City Centre. Ideally I would like to find somewhere in the centre so we can all have a drink but would be happy to drive 30 minutes in any direction if it was really worth it. Any suggestions?

- Preferably not a chain place and somewhere with character if possible.
This is my standard recommendation for lunch in Oxford.

Might be French but still does a Sunday roast.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve been to Quod before and wasn’t that impressed to be honest. Pierre Victoire is a favourite but not quite what I’m looking for. I think it’s a brilliant French bistro though.
Killingworth Castle looks like the sort of place I was hoping to find so thanks for that.

The Trout I think used to be very good but then sold out to M&B. Their concept for this brand in their portfolio is based on the Orange Tree Project business they bought quite a few years ago. Then the FD got involved and quality went downhill.
I’m hoping for an independent that uses local produce, lovely location though.

To be fair, its been twenty years since I was in Oxford frequenting pubs I’m hoping for an independent that uses local produce, lovely location though.

As an alternative in a lovely location about 30mins outside Oxford:I’m hoping for an independent that uses local produce, lovely location though.

Thanks for the suggestion, we absolutely loved the place and the Sunday lunch was amazing. Even catered to my preference for rare roast beef and the missus wanting well done.
Really pleased that you enjoyed it. It is a cracking pub, and the team have put a lot of effort in over the past few years, genuinely nice people too. Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
