Bizarre one I know but I've lived alone for donkeys years and spent many Christmases alone. This year I have the pleasure of a house full at christmas, 3 adults 3 kids.

Really want to push the boat out so I've ordered a 9kg turkey, 3kg beef sirlion, 3kg pork shoulder and small goose from the farm over the road.

Hoping for a foggy Christmas morning walk to the pub before getting home and serving a huge dinner then falling asleep on the sofa with a very nice whiskey.

Hope I've not missed anything scratchchin

Boil a gammon for an hour with carrot, onion, peppercorns and a bay leaf. Out the water, in a roasting tray, smother half/half with mustard and and honey and roast for 20 mins. beer

I hope you have plans for what to do with the leftovers. A 20lb turkey is big for six people!

That's a huge feast. Well done. I don't think I would do the pork shoulder on that day. The Turkey and beef fantastic, as others have said the turkey is great with pigs in blankets . If you invited me I would just have the beef . Hope your day is great.

A load of bread buns to feed your local homeless , shame to put your inevitable leftovers in the bin , unless your guests are really hungry on Xmas day , and in that case check they’re not homeless!

Missed off the gammon, added to the list as are pigs in blankets.

Local pub is charging £70 a head for christmas dinner so mines gonna be a bargain!

Only thing I'd add is to get your timing plan worked out well beforehand. Depending on the size of your oven(s) you'll need to have the turkey cooked well before lunch time so that you can raise the temperature for the roast potatoes for example.

You might have to get up early!

No, meant it would cost £420 quid to go to the pub.

Count in the drink and I bet you spend more than that.

Roast Chestnuts for an afternoon nibble, just pierce them and pop them in the oven. Unless you’re lucky enough to have an open fire in which case pierce them and put them as close to the fire as you can without them catching alight, you’ll know when they’re done as they have a tendency explode!
