What on earth is this?

I've grilled sausages many times but don't recall seeing anything like this before:



Vaguely pink sludge found in the bottom of the grill pan afterwards, left by Co-Op 'Irresistible' pork sausages.

What the hell is it?

Whatever they make sausage skin out of and probably some exuded MRM goo for good measure.

Not much, and during cooking the skin went wrinkly and dry. Very disappointing for something called 'Irresistible'. I hate to think what the normal ones are like.
