I'm already planning Chrismas food, for 2 whole days I have to cook for 14.

Its French theme on Chrimbo eve this year.

Breakfast and lunch tend to be quite light, dinner will be French onion soup with a gratinee crouton, then beef bourginon or chicken chasseur, then tart tatin, maybe some choux pasty, perhaps a little cafe gourmand.

Christmas day, champagne, croissants. Lunch will be a fairly ordinary british lunch, but with a gravy fountain, a huge Chrimbo pud to make soon. Mince pies. Cheese.

I'll start clearing out the chest freezer this week.

That's 'heavy' for Christmas Eve.

Need to leave more room for alcohol.

I would suggest canapés with champagne to start, something fishy as the main

Don't forget the cheese! to be eaten before dessert.

Napoleon hardly seduced Josephine with Roquefort on his breath.

I would just do part baked baguettes with beurre, jambon and fromage with a bit of salad and pomme frittes for dinner on christmas eve.

Mrs Guage and I love to spend Xmas Day at home with our son, but every year we get invites from family to spend the day with them. It's difficult saying no without sounding unappreciative and antisocial, but we'll be staying at home again this year. Last thing I want to do on Xmas Day is leave the house.

Every September the Xmas decorations go up and Xmas songs are piped in supermarkets, malls, etc, throughout tha Pheeleeeepeeeeeeeens. It is known as the "ber" months. I start wishing strangers "Merry Christmas!!" to a cheery but confused look from the 1st September, or an "eh?". Most are happy to join in the nonsense though as they have a great positive attitude.

A French Christmas Eve meal is always Fruits de Mer with added Oysters.

Christmas lunch tends to be a buffet. Very disconcerting if you were expecting a decent meal.

Yesterday I did a trial run of the beef bourgignon I plan, soaked the meat over night, then gave it 10 hours on simmer. Very good.

I've started thinking about what to cook for xmas day too. The teens like a trad turkey and trimmings, but my sister and family are coming from the states this year and will have just done Thanksgiving, which is pretty similar.

Indeed. Thanksgiving is the end of November, so best part of a month before Xmas luncheon.

Plenty of UK based folks will have had multiple Christmas dinners with various work do's etc.

I am fascinated by that gravy fountain. Do you dip your forkful of turkey/sprouts/etc into the flowing gravy or just spoon it from there onto your plate?

Same, I saw an FB post the other day with a meat platter and a pepper sauce fountain I would be game for giving that a go!
