Hi all, my wife is travelling up from the north Cotswolds next Wednesday to meet her best friend who’s coming down from Leeds. They are planning to meet roughly halfway, which according to Google maps is just west of Mansfield. They’ll both be on the M1 so anywhere around there would be good. Any nice spots for lunch that you’ve been to for lunch?

Many thanks

It's a bit of a gastronomic wasteland but have a look at these two:

From the Peak Edge Hotel.
“ Please note the Red Lion Restaurant does not allow the use of decorative items of any sort such as balloons, streamers, candles, confetti, celebratory accessories or any items of offensive nature.”

I’d tell your missus and her mate to leave their vibrators in the car not on the table.

My wife is from Sutton in Ashfield near Mansfield.
We have been out for dinner a few times when we have been visiting.
One of the best I have found is the Carnarvon. Its not too far from the M1 either.

Been a few times and it's pretty good.

The peacock at Barlow is nice but not close to the motorway.

The Elm Tree at Elmton gets my vote (my old local)

Elm Tree at Heath or Hardwick Inn might be worth a look, both just off j29.

Either of these.
