I have just encountered, albeit only via TV, a thing called Oxford Sauce. Whilst finding that on Amazon I saw that 'customers also bought' Henderson's Relish. The latter may be similar to Worcestershire sauce, but it's hard to know by looking at a photo of the bottle.
I like Worcestershire sauce very much, though it did sadly turn to water a few years ago in a dumbing down exercise. Should I give Oxford and Henderson a go? Steak is my target....

To me Henderson's is a bit sweeter and more balanced than Worcestershire which i find a bit more acidic but then its got the kind of umami you get with MSG due to the anchovies.
I hadnt heard of Oxford sauce until now but reading about it, I fancy trying it, I'm intrigued to see how spicy it is.

I wonder if its a bit like the "Chippy Brown Sauce" I've had in Edinburgh (which tastes likee brown sauce diluted with vinegar)?

Whilst you can use it during cooking Hendo's is more of a table sauce for splashing on your plate of shepherds pie, pie n mash etc, whereas I always see Worcestershire sauce is more of a cooking sauce, to add whilst cooking.
Hendersons relish and Worcestershire sauce have nothing in common. Other than being black. And in a glass bottle. With orange labels. And used in cooking...
Hendersons original factory in Sheffield, whilst no longer their factory has had a recent restoration

Thanks all - not being a vegetarian I may as well stay with L&P.
(The TV programme was https://foodnetwork.co.uk/shows/adam-richman-eats-... - Oxford sauce was served with rather fancy Scotch eggs)

That would be a shame, Hendo's has been my sauce of choice since moving north 15 years ago. Of course if that's too far, you could always stop off in Northamptonshire:https://www.jeyessnorthamptonshiresauce.co.uk/?srs...

I dont really use Worcestershire sauce but I use Hendersons a lot, to the point of almost drinking it from the bottle! After plating my food up I almost pour it over pies, lasagna, bolognese and it's also lovely on chips. Do folk use Worcester sauce on similar meals in the same way, or just when cooking them?

I like it on steak, and also splosh some into a bolognese for more flavour.https://www.tiktok.com/@theace_placee/video/733290...
I might get a bottle of Hendersons - not the gin! - and see.
