Morning All

I want to make a cheesecake with the kids over the weekend and have discovered that the concentrated jelly I propose using is off date since March this year.

Is it still safe to use??

It's a sign - keep the jelly away from the cheesecake, it doesn't belong there. smile

Best before or use by? What was the manufacturing date?

Something like that could have a date on it on the basis it doesn't technically last forever, but could still have a long shelf life with zero ill effects.

This concentrated stuff is usually so loaded with sugar it lasts almost forever, packaged shelf life is at least 12 months and even the open life is measured in weeks.

Open it up and give it a sniff. There's not much in jelly to go off: most of it is sugar which last pretty much forever.

I'd use it, but then i also trim the green bits off cheese and scrape mould off the top of jam...

Jelly cubes? I suspect its a BBE date in which case the worst that can happen is they will have lost a little flavour.

Don't put the kids in the cheesecake, it won't taste right.

It'll be fine, I'm more than happy to eat anything as long as it looks and smells ok.
My record for a yoghurt is a month out smile

As the above poster, I'm curious about the recipe?

If its cubed jelly Id still use it. Assuming no fur.

You mix it with boiling water anyway.

It's the one with the lamb mince and potatoes in the bottom layer.
