In the Philippines for a month, thought it might be of interest to show some of the food, drinks from a country that never stops eating!
First one not actually Philippines, preferred route is Air China,so five hour layover in Beijing PEK,good choice as it proved this time!,didn't go to lounge this time, terminal is massive, lots of space to stretch out n quiet, had meal there, sausage rice, cucumber salad side for gf, sizzling egg plant n pork, wood ear n vinegar mushroom salad side for me, lemon tea each, not bad for £24

Red Horse? Only if I want a banging headache - had it once and the formaldehyde was similar to 1990s Chang in Thailand.
With the rising levels of "Red Tide" in the PH, I would avoid shellfish too.
I am guessing your partner is Filipina. "Sweet" Del Monte on the table. MrsPA is not typically Filipina in that we do not use sugar very often.
Pampano - Now you're talking! One of my favorite fish in the PH, and on the table once every one or two weeks!!

15 minutes to home from NAIA is swift! Nice to have you here!!

We often have jamonado and munngo. Occasionally, pancit, Mindoro/Marinduque dinuguan, adobo, caldereta, salpicao, bibinka, afritata, etc. Very rarely, lechon and pata. We tend to eat Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, regional foods though, as we find much of Filipino food a little bland - the above being stand-outs!

Is air China ok? I presume that business class food?

Some of their pricing is so anti competitive it’s not real, but never mind lol.

I flew once with China southern years ago and it was terrible so avoided the Chinese airlines, but might be worth reconsidering.

No economy return £500, don't have a problem with it, friends coming Cathay,£1,000,£500 extra spending goes a long way in right places, could fly first class but doesn't bother me,part of the adventure, same today ,gf family big time military and rich Chinese, think I'm crazy but I just wander any where with a smile n komusta
Definitely Air China lots of times , always feel safe n Beijing PEK is worth the trip, thanks for commenting

Really. I also flew with them myself a good few years ago and found the experience pretty decent overall. The flight attendants level of English wasn't the best, but the food was good, I went for the local options and they put you up in a hotel in Guangzhou, as was a long layover, but I prefer to break up the journey, was flying from Perth to London. Missed my flight the next day due to partying with some expats the night before and they didn't charge me any extra to put me on the next flight. Fully flat seat as well for the whole journey.

Yeah I've no complaints, last time there was bit of an argument on the Manila -Beijing flight, thought oh oh diverted, stewardess didn't argue, two air marshall sorted it straight away, just know there's no grief at PEK,same in most of Philippines, law abiding, decent people,no problem

Sounds about right! Filipinos are extremely warm, approachable and caring. Some of the most optimistic, stoic, resilient people in the world. Glass-half-full-possibly-overflowing attitude.
