What gems have you found in street food stalls / casual restaurant that are really remarkable and worthy of multiple repeat visits (even if the location doesn't have much else going for it). For me, there are two absolute stand-outs:

The Beef Rendang at Makatcha at Camden Lock. I think the headline on the stall is something like "Indonesian Coconut Curry". It is absolutely fabulous, and try as I might, I just cannot replicate the same flavour at home. They used to be part of the Kerb circuit, but in the past 5 years or so I've only ever seen them at Camden lock.

The Naem Fried Rice at Speedboat in Soho. It's not spicy, but it just has the most amazing flavour and a lovely mouth feel. Again - I just can't get close to this at home.

Whilst the above are both London, that's just because it's where I do the vast majority of my exploratory eating.

Rendang can be a pita to get the kerisik right and if done right yeah....

since the OP started on the theme of southeast asian food, if anyone likes fried noodles, the char kway teow at Laksamania near tottenham court road is worth a try as imo it's pretty decent....
