Asda Dom Perignon

Did anyone manage to bag a bottle of 1999 Vintage Dom for £30 yesterday or was it a con to get you to set foot in the establishment and realise you needed something else.

I didn't even see the spot on the shelf where it was supposed to be.

Asda isn't nice in the late evening. Although they did have a huge 3l Chateau Neuf for £15!!

T'other half went to MK Asda and local Northampton and both had sold out

Asda stores really are horrible, the clientele is definitely as step below other places. And anyone that desperate for £30 bottles of Dom Perignon really ought not to be drinking it, it wasn't made for those sorts of people.

I believe Netto is even worse. I've never been in one, and didn't even know what they were until I asked.

Will be buying a bottle anyway, daughter's 21st coming up, but it's always better when it is a bargain.

Still think the whole Asda thing was a scam.

Mmm Dom Perignon is nice!

Probably was a bit of a scam, similar to when they had a dvd player for £7 a few months back. I went to get one, they said they'd sold out within a few hours and as I was there I ended up spending around £15 getting various bits and bobs.

Just had a report on Radio 5.

They apparently had 1000 bottles, sourced from the grey market, which they distributed around 65 stores (out of 370-odd). Staff members were allowed to buy it, as long as they were not currently working.

So, chances of obtaining some were near-as-dammit zero.
