Evening All,
I was hoping someone had a recommendation for a wine book I could buy myself for christmas.
I want it to review current (recent) wines.
Something similar to the wine spectator which I believe is online, and a magazine. But i would prefer a book.
I have gambero rosso for italian wine, but wanted something which did more of europe maybe with points out of 100 as 3 glasses (alla gambero rosso) is a bit limiting.
Thanks for any ideas

I hate the hundred point scales. Wine is too much of an individual taste. My favourite book is "The wine behind the Label". It uses a five star scale (with five special stars for the true greats) and is based on overall quality of the wine as opposed to particular vintages. The commentary is what tells you about the relative quality of different vintages. If a wine is in the book at all it means that they rate it. A one star wine that is not expensive will be a well-made, enjoyable wine.

Its a huge subject and the trouble is wine scores change all the time when wines are re-tasted. Your best bet is on-line sites. Books are out of date too quickly.
Robert Parker/wine spectator/Decanter.
What about Hugh thingy, you know, him, clever bloke, does a diary sized wine book every year, had a bit of a spat with Parker over scoring wine rather than rating and enjoying it. Robert Parker/wine spectator/Decanter.
