I've heard that this wine is supposed to be excellent and just wondered if any PH's had tried it and how good it was. What kind of price range are we looking at? Just interested as it seems that the UK now has some pretty good vineyards but I don't know enough about them to know which to buy and try...

Thanks in anticipation of replies.. T

The wines from Setley Ridge in the New Forest are pretty good.

Hi,

I have tried Nyetimber on numerous occasions as I used to work in the wine trade. I have to say that I used to find their wines a bit hit and miss, there were so very good bottles but then on other occasions they were completely out of balance (acidity too high and agressive mousse (fizz) ).

With regards to price, you are looking at about £20 a bottle.

Chapel Down is pretty good stuff. I will look through my old notes for you and see what else I tasted and liked.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would be interested to hear of any others you can recommend for UK wines. You don't hear alot about them and I fancy trying something homegrown. They've all surely improved from Country Manor! Wouldn't mind giving the vineyards a visit too.

Chapel Down OK. Three Choirs stuff can be good...and you can visit them in style...

Had a bottle of 96 Nyetimber fizz recently. Very good, really well balanced.

Worth giving Denbies a go as well.

Again, the fizz is excellent.

Realised that Denbies was the vineyard we visited one summer. Purchased some of their wine and was pleasantly surprised. Would like to try their sparkling though. Thanks for the tip. T
