Put the oats in a pan the night before, cover with milk and whack it it in the fridge till morning, oats swell up and soak up all the liquid, add a little more milk and heat up - super smooth and creamy.

I use the cheap and cheerful 45p a bag from superfrescos... I did notice the organic Flahavans* bags in two varieties; one was a larger flaked pack, any good? I also remember buying it in a tin some time back and haven't found anything as good as that in terms of quality...

- Flahavans. Or was it Flannigans?
Whatever it was, it was Irish, for sure. To be sure.

Forget the fancy measuring.
Pour milk into dish then add oats till the milk seems 'full'. (Sounds odd but you'll get the hang of it after the first go).
Nuke on full for 2 mins, remove, stir & add in sultanas (or salt, cinnamon, whiskey etc) then nuke for another 1-2 mins depending how milky or firm you like it.
I converted my wife from 40 years of "I hate porridge" to "That's incredible, you're such a fab chef!"

I will try this method tonight.

Worth a go, but I do mine in a Pyrex over the gas. Not quite super smooth, but defo creamy. Me likes a bit of grain in with the creamy texture.

Milk? Sugar? Honey?
Gayers!
Oats, water and salt in a pan on the stove - the only way. It only takes minutes.
I'm not scotch either!
I'll have to try it that way, although I can't see me liking it to be honest... Anyway, skimmed milk is pretty much like water anyway apparently.

One part oats, one part water, one part milk, either nuked or in a pan depending if I'm on my own or not.
Sprinkle on brown sugar or sultanas or both if I'm feeling greedy. Very cheap tasty brekkie that sets you up for the day.
Yup this is my recipe but with one part water and one part soya, measured in a plastic cup at work!! Sprinkle on brown sugar or sultanas or both if I'm feeling greedy. Very cheap tasty brekkie that sets you up for the day.
Soaked from the night before is lovely but I'm rarely that organised!
