Bit of advice required from any nutritionists or anyone (probably quite a few hehe ) that is in my current situation.

When I was doing the carpet cleaning full time (now my business partner is due to my involvement in some specialised IT contracting), I was keeping my weight down easily.

Since I have been doing a desk job, and given up smoking properly, my weight has just balloned exponentially. Sadly I am now seriously overweight and need to lose it.

My problem is this - I feel seriously hungry ALL the time. I can eat enourmous amounts of food and not even think about it.

So what real world diet tips have worked for you guys and gals? smile

I'd suspect it is partly the giving up smoking = taste buds = eat more.

If you must snack, popcorn (sans toffee, fatty! tongue out) and water will fill you up without adding many calories. And get in the pool/gym. It is a simple enough equation and, no, you don't have a 'gland' problem. hehe

hehe

Unlike most fat people, I understand my weight problem is due to the gigantic amounts of bad food that I stuff down my cakehole every minute of every day wink There is a chap who I used to work with who was 20 stone, who couldnt understand why he was so fat. Then I went to KFC with him one day and watched him eat an ENTIRE large family bucket by himself...

I have started swimming recently, however the gym owner keeps thinking that I am a large great naked mole rat in the pool so they keep trying to exterminate me frown

I was similar to you, the only way I broke it was to go on the South Beach diet for a couple of weeks, felt like st the first few days but your body adjusts and your stomach shrinks. After 2 weeks I was actually revolted with the stuff I used to put in my mouth.

I don't think there is an easy way.

See this is where i need to get to.

I used to do Karate 4 times a week and weighed 13.2 stone and was fairly well built.

Now weigh in at 17.5 stone yikes and get knackered climbing up stairs.

Luckily I dont look that fat as I am quite tall, but I can tell and I am not happy about it.

I think once I get the weight down, I will keep it down.

Will look up the south beach diet now...

Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dine like a pauper.

Cut out the snacks and if you have to have something then have a piece of fruit.

For breakfast, eat a large bowl of porridge.

Lunch, if you've not got a decent canteen at work then don't take sandwiches in, take crisp bread, crackers, pate, tinned or smoked mackerel. Nuts and fruit too. flavour with spring onions or salad.

For dinner, rice, chicken and fish and plenty of veg.

Get some exercise

As above, taper your calorie intake throughout the day.
  • Big bowl of porridge for brekkie, maybe even three egg whites and one yolk scrambled on dry toast too.
  • Cottage cheese with chives on dry wholewheat toast & fruit mid-morning.
  • Healthy, skinny, wholewheat sarnie for lunch; chicken salad, tuna salad, egg white/mayo/cress, etc.
  • Nuked/jacket spud with cottage cheese, tuna, etc. and tomato/fruit mid afternoon.
  • Grilled chicken breast/salmon, sweet potato and broccoli for dinner.
  • Ryvita/rice cake(s) and sardines/mackerel/cottage cheese, etc. for supper.
Little and often - small portions.
Aim for something like: Brekkie 500 kcals, mid-morning 500 kcals, lunch 400 kcals, mid afternoon 400 kcals, tea 400 kcals, supper 200 kcals.

Get into some kind of sport to speed up your metabolism as well and watch the fat drop off. You will get your energy levels up in no time and hunger pangs for fatty foods will go away. As said further above your body learns to revolt unhealthy food it and actually makes you feel yuck when fish & chips are served up. Its hard to explain but it works.
