Yup - my local dairy butter from cows in the next field cut from a big block and wrapped in cling film. Makes any supermarket butter taste like Happy Shopper Margarine-style Value Spread!

It's Breton which is how I get round my usual anti-French prejudice*. It is excellent, and copes reasonably well with warmer weather, ie doesn't turn into oil. In the winter I get the Helen's Farm Goats Butter, also sold by Waitrose. It spreads quite well in cold weather.

  • I don't mind buying French wine or cheese because obviously it's pretty irreplaceable... but I usually object to buying French stuff that other countries do well.
