Can Cider Go Off
Discussion
I am drinking some cider we bought from a Cider Farm back in March. It has been kept in a contaner in a cupboard and yesterday it was put in the fridge.
I know we bought a sweet and a medium cider, I think this is the medium. Anyway i'm not sure if it has an after taste so I wondered if it may have gone off.

Alcohol reacts with atmospheric oxygen to make ethanal (acetaldehyde in old money) and then ethanoic acid (acetic acid in old money) - in short, yes, vinegar. The complex organic molecules will also break down with time.
ETA From a 'cider farm' makes me think it's pretty live, 'organic' etc - if it's got yeast in it and no preservatives then shelf life will be pretty short I reckon.

Can cider go off? No idea ... I never seem to be able to stop drinking the stuff 'til it's gone I know we bought a sweet and a medium cider, I think this is the medium. Anyway i'm not sure if it has an after taste so I wondered if it may have gone off.
Farm cider is made in October and is usually not ready to drink until May, occasionally Easter if you get a warm spring. And will then have to keep for a whole year until the next year's cider is ready. So it keeps quite well, especially in a sealed container. If it is medium, you may find it has continued to ferment and is now dryer and stronger.
If it tastes OK, it is OK.
If it tastes OK, it is OK.

buy some now and then, usually 2 weeks is good time to drink it, if tastes funny, then cooking, breadmaking etc...I know we bought a sweet and a medium cider, I think this is the medium. Anyway i'm not sure if it has an after taste so I wondered if it may have gone off.
