I love them all.

But for the ideal beery accompaniment, I go for Cheese Moments; only because on all-day drinking sessions in Uni (a long time ago) they were the snack of choice.

Then again, I remember sitting in a hotel bar in London drinking Becks and mainlining olives as it was such a great combination!

What no pickled eggs? I was once complaining about being hungry in a country pub
at half ten at night. A mate of mine said he'd get me sausage egg & chips, so of
course I said no way, not at this time of night but he was adamant that he could
arrange it.

I returned from the loo to find a pepperami, pickled egg and a packet of plain
crisps on the bar! Voila.

p.s. moving this from the P&P was moderation too far. If I put the words "ham
sandwich" at the bottom of every post are you going to put them all in here? The
P&P is a virtual pub and the discussion was about pub snacks, GEDDIT?

Quite.

If I want to post stuff about "foodie" things, I'll post it here. I thought a thread about pub snacks was entirely appropriate for the "pub" forum. Annoying.

I'm disallowing standard Mini Cheddars BTW, as there is now an "Extra Strong Mature Cheddar" version which is far superior.

Scampi Fries with beer / wine? nono

Another vote for pig scabs.

Very dangerous thing to eat in a pub as you then have to go home to the missus with fingers that smell like they've been in the barmaids knickers. . . . . . .

Grasmere Grunta is superb when on the beers. I'm not sure if it is available in all locales though, probably specific to this area alone.

or

By far the best scratchings ever to pass my lips.

Pork scratchings, so long as it's not the hairy type.
