How about a Strawberry Pavlova? make a large base, cover in whipped double cream, and then add loads of strawberries. then stick a smaller meringue on top and cover that in more cream and strawberries.

Trifle - always a winner.

That or classic Black Forest Gateau (made one for an 80's themed party and it went down very well).

Monte bianco- very autummy dessert from Italy
Get some chestnut purree in tins, mix up with a 50/50 mixture of cacao powder and icing sugar to make a firm mass- aromatize with brandy or rum of your choice, rum will taste stronger, put in dessert glasses to mike little "mountains" and cover with whipped double cream like a snowy peak (omit coming close scales the next morning, I hasten to add)lick
See limk for picture http://www.chow.com/recipes/10765
My version uses chestnut purre instead of the roasting business but feel free to do the whole thing- I would just omit the fennel because it does not fit in there and is not part of the original italian thing- good luck...

Easy,

my favourite desert for a dinner party has to be a white chocolate pannacotta with a raspberry coulis.

easy to make, can be made a day in advance and looks well when presented right !

Oh, it does have one litre of double cream in it though !!

Recipe is in James Martin's book, Just Deserts

Enjoy

I used to make a twist on a Jamie Oliver recipe of passionfruit and campari sorbet.

I did a malibu and pineapple variety ... and oh my it was good.
