Brakspear, good choice!
if the Scrumpy the OP mentions is the proper British grown and produced article rather than the fuzzy syrup concentrate stuff often palmed off as Cider, than all good
and as for that poor excuse of an historical beer style called lager (german for storage, like the english word larder, proper Lager beer is stored for up to 3 months or over before being served) we get over here that is produced in a chemical factory in under a week , well....

Try this:

Or this:

Granted, the generic "lagers" in this country are tasteless fizz, but there is good stuff out there as long as it's been properly lagered / krausened

I'll retract that. You can find a good lager if you look, but as a generalisation I tend to find lager tastes like overly fizzy beer flavoured water. I don't really enjoy it, not like I do a heavy beer/ale that has kick and flavour. I also struggle to do more than 4 or 5 pints of lager without feeling bloated, whereas 10 pints of Guinness can disappear without any trouble.
Try lidil or aldi, there largers and pils are very good and not bad prices!Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

As for lager
, for me it either has to be real ale, or shorts, say vodka, sometimes with redbull, sometimes neat!!
