I don't know much about wine making, I remember my Dad having those bubbling demijons full of various wines on the go when I was little.
Any form of home booze making is fun and can have surprisingly good results. Sometimes.
But the price of good wine has plummeted so much in recent years that you have to be pretty committed to the process for it to feel worthwhile...

The kits are as good as place as any to start.
There's plenty of websites out there and a couple of forums devoted to it, who will give good general advice

I make country wines now, so rarely use kits, but there are plenty of good ones out there.
