Palette Cleansers - Suggestions?

I'll be hosting a few dinner parties over the Christmas period. In the past I've made sorbet as a palette cleanser to serve between courses, but fancy trying something else this year. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Coconut ice-cream with a drizzled infusion of passion fruit and lime.

Sorbet is as good as anything I reckon - how about an apple and calvados or pink grapefruit or maybe even cranberry one at xmas time.

Otherwise, green or mint tea severed in tiny espresso cups?

You can always concentrate on the wine choices , as good as anything if you get it right. I.E light crisp whites to go with starters deserts etc.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, some interesting ideas there.

As to why...it just adds a little bit of variety and excitement to the meal, and over Christmas it's worth going that extra mile!

Will also definitely be pairing each course with an appropriate wine!

You've now made me think about offering the same at Christmas. Whilst looking for stuff at the weekend (god yes I'm planning the menu already!) I came across Melon & Parma Ham soup ! Might be my starter now, will go with sorbet or limoncello as a cleanser otherwise I think.
