Right foodie folks, help me out here.

I want to cook a fairly posh and interesting meal for friends on Saturday night. But I know that the females will want to watch Strictly Bum Lancing. Ergo, I want to go to the pub with mate for a swift pint(s), come back and eat.

So I want a decent meal which I can pre-prepare in the morning then slow cook/keep warm/re-heat. 5-10 mins prep max.

Ideally it will contain a bit more finesse than a good casserole, slice of pie, bowl of pasta, curry etc, (not that I'm averse to these normally).

Any ideas?

Saturday night? Gathering? Few drinks?
Perfect curry conditions surely, or is that too uncouth for your audience?

I'd love a curry night.

In fact I'd love a curry night most nights. And lunchtimes. And some breakfasts.

But I'm after something a bit more...foodie.

Then how about a "posh curry"?

Fish Masman Curry with coconut sticky rice; you could use one or a number of different types of fish and some tiger prawns?

Not a bad idea.

I think I've been too hasty in rejecting the one-pot/casserole idea. This looks nice...

-plus, any dish which contains, toulouse sausage, duck, lamb and pork has appeal.

A lamb tagine served with cous-cous and flat breads. Cooked the day before to 'mature'.

Lamb shoulder - a whole one deboned and diced
1 can of tomatoes
500ml of lamb or veg stock
cumin
large glass red wine
2 tsp blackpepper
1 tsp salt
2 med onions, sliced
dried prunes
coriander to serve

Brown meat, add wine, then everything else. Cook for minimum three hours. Let cool. refridgerate and reheat after you've been to the pub. Coriander on top.
