Hi, I have an avid desire towards Japanese food and delicacy's and I've been looking into making some of it (even have yo sushi cook book in the post) but from a quick ganders I noticed allot of the thing I've never seen in store before so I was wondering is there a Japanese super market in Poole/Bournemouth/Dorset? I've seen them on the net but in all honesty I would rather not have food arrive through the post.

There is no Japanese food retailers down that way, with your nearest probably going to be Surrey.

One of the best is the Japan Centre in London which does mail order http://www.japancentre.com/
And there are others, check this blog by a Japanese woman living in Switzerland:

She has lots of recipes on her site too....

What ingredients are you after L4AMBO? There are some storecupboard basics that would be perfectly fine to have posted, and I know Sainsburys (and probably other supermarkets too) stock a reasonable range of ingredients such as soy sauce, sesame oil and even seaweed. I'm sure I've seen miso paste and the like too. Do you have any ethnic or Chinese shops near you? They will often stock Japanese goods.

If you want any specific advice just ask, my mum is Japanese and I'm sure I could tell what is necessary if you post up what you're after smile

Yep, I'd agree with this - most "Chinese" supermarkets I have used have stocked Japanese/Thai stuff as well as Chinese.

As said, basics you can find in larger supermarkets and Asian stores, you can also substitute some ingredients if you are in a bind - this covers the main ones:
