For odd reasons not really worth going into I am just enjoying a light breakfast prior to having dinner with my wife in about half an hour.

It's a glass of Gold Label Barley wine left over from when she made the Christmas puds at the weekend.

Surprisingly palateable considering. And from the viscosity I suspect it's as nutritious as anything else I could be having or have had earlier.

Strange days...

paperbag Would you believe it but I've written that code... yes

This is just late. I'm right here in the UK. Sipping a cool, refreshing, nutritious glass of 8.5% beer. Loopy juice.

Don...I'm surprised at you!
Even if it was free I'd struggle to drink it.

Not this time. I'm sure we all know what it tastes like. Strange Brew on steroids.

Ordinarily it's utterly disgusting - sort of like Lucozade tastes good when you're sick but awful otherwise. Going down quite well this evening.

When I was 16 I worked in the local Working Men's Club and one of the alcoholic barmaids used to drink this stuff like it was lemonade. She actually had a gold Label 'tash on her top lip and she used to smoke a Superking as long as a snooker cue in about 4 drags. Denise was her name and she pronounced 'middle' as 'miggle'.

Thick bint!

rofl Thanks for sharing. hehe A word-painting of the first order that one. She sounds like a character from a seedy detective novel.

Going back about 25 years, a bloke at the local rugby club, used to "Snakebite" this with Merrydown Cider.
He was an alcoholic.

A guy I used to work with, in the early 80's, used to drink 3-4 bottles at lunch in the company bar.....he was a fork lift truck driver!

Crikey. THREE or FOUR bottles for lunch!

I'm feeling "full" after one...

Not a brew for a long drinking session...

Really! It's not that bad. And it's all the food I've had all day. I was ready for it.

It's like when your hungry enough even blancmange tastes OK.
