glenfiddich (sp) with a single cube of ice in it, it was lovely.

Now, im considering buying myself a bottle of whiskey for the festive period. So say £30 tops, and i like it to be as smooth as can be, can anyone throw me a few suggestions please?

Also worth noting will be using a supermarket for my purchase, cheers!

How about a bottle of Glenfiddich? Why ruin Christmas buying something you might not like?

Erm.... the Glenfiddich is what you've already tried, isn't it?

Laphroaig is a peaty West Coast malt; an acquired taste which I am unlikely to acquire vomit

Macallan 18 year old is just lovely. Otherwise, the 12 year old is great too.
Cardhu is also quite nice, as is Glenmorangie. Even Chivas Regal (blend) is nice to glug.

Basically, I'd stay away from anything too peaty until you develop a taste for it.

My 2c.

Hi,

If you like Glenfiddich, why not stick with it, they have a nice limited edition "Toasted Oak" bottle in the supermarkets just now.

Also a fan of "The Balvenie" range

Absolutely agree re Balvenie - lovely stuff that the OP is likely to enjoy.

Oban for me - went round the distillery a few years ago and love the stuff. Each to their own though and if you like what you drink don't let others try and take you away from it.
Drinking sloe gin, citrus vodka and tea as I have run out of Oban so can't really comment frown

Glenmorangie is very mild but smooth whisky generally. decent stuff, usually a nice balance of flavours but I find it a little bland at times...

If he doesn't like Peat then Bowmore's probably not a good idea!
