Hi all,
so I'm a man of simple taste and do like a nice strong cheddar, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for really strong cheddars that are out there at the mo please? tried some from Tesco, First Choice Vintage Ploughmans I think, didn't have enough of a kick, so, any others?

Colliers.
It comes in a black packet with a miner on the front. So you know it's manly.

Lactalis McLelland make Scottish 'Seriously Strong Cheddar'. It's prizewinning - and strong!

That's quite nice, although it has a slightly unusual taste to it for a Cheddar. Wyke Farms vintage stuff is nice too, although not hugely strong.

Try the deli at Waitrose, they have some lovely stuff, plus some unpateurised in teh shelves, which is special

Don't get confused by "mature Cheddar" it has no bearing on the taste/strength.

'Cornish cruncher' by M&S, rated a '7', the strongest I have found.

Step 1 -Find a proper local 'cheesemonger'

Step 2 -Cheerily ask him how long he's been 'monging' cheese.

Step 3 -Wipe up the blood.

Step 4 -Apologetically ask to try some strong cheddar or equivalent, have a few tastes.

Step 5 -Purchase the nicest one.

Big thumbs up for Waitrose here as well. Their own brand extra mature is pretty damn good. And of course they have an excellent selection in the deli section.

Nice, but hardly blew my mind. Not the blowing of the mind I was expecting at all. Infact a bit of a let down on the turbo cheese front.

Colliers and TNT are very nice, but not overly strong.

Try Snowdonia's Black Bomber - that is GOOD stuff.
