I would personally choose have either a Chablis Grand Cru or a Baron la Doucette.

I have to agree, for me Chablis or Sancerre.

A good robust Bordeaux like St Emillion, Pomerol , or try a light wine like Fleurie.
Also Nuits st George is quite good too;-)

St Emillion possibly a little too heavy, even with a full Xmas roast.

A good light-medium red would go well - Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz*, Beaujolais (I know unfashionable but a good one will be fine), Fleurie. Or a characterful white like a chablis.

  • Try a Shiraz-Viognier - some very good ones from the southern hemisphere!

pinot noir (as long as you're having all the trimmings eg,s tuffing, sausages bacon etc.) and a nice burgundy white, I've tested this and it works lovely!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm off to the merchant later so I shall see what he has in. As I've never tried a Chablis before I may well give that a go although I do hate it when I find a wine that I really don't get on with!

If you like white, you'll like chablis.
