I'm going to have a booze free January, given the fact that it is my birthday during the month I'm planning to make some interesting drinks. Anyone have any suggestions please?

If I'm not drinking, I have elderflower cordial and fizzy water in a wine glass.

It's a bit more grown up than the Diet Coke / lime and soda thing, and I feel (marginally) less deprived.

Mmmmmm - theres a challenge then ! The following are stuff I have tried in the past and found enjoyable (on th odd occasion where I am off the alcohol)

4 measures peach juice
2 measures orange juice
1 measure lemon juice
Crushed Ice
4 measures soda water
Slices of lemon, orange and lime

Mix the juices and ice. Pour unstrained into a glass and ad a splash of soda water. Decorate with the fruit slices.

Or

cool a glass in the freezer for a bit.
5-6 strawberries
1/4" slice of pineapple
juice of 1/2 lemon
juice of 1/2 orange
a dash of syrop de fraise

Blend together the friuts and juices retaining a strawberry. Slosh the syrop round the glass, add the blended juices and garnish the edge of the glass with the strawberry. Add crushed ice if desired.

or

2 oz raspberries
4 fl oz lemonade
1 small scoop vanilla ice cream
Lime slice

Blend the raspberies and lemonade to afine pulp. Add the ice cream and a slice of lime.

or
2 very ripe bananas
3-4 tbsp greek yogurt
1-2 tbsp full fat milk
1 tbsp soft dark brown sugar

Blend all the ingredients (with a glug of dark rum if not on the wagon) until smooth. Pour into a glass

Hope the above give you a few ideas.

Not very exciting, but these are my alcohol free choices (I don't really like sweet stuff):

If out, tonic water tarted up to look like G&T. Always distracts the people who are desperate to tempt you off the wagon.

Out or at home, a Virgin Mary - bloody mary without the vodka.

At home, ginger cordial and soda water or lemonade or soda with angostura bitters.

Asda do a non alcoholic sparkling Muscat. Comes in a champagne style bottle and you can pop the cork etc, is only about 1.50 a bottle.

Most of my family don't drink, so for various occasions I usually grab some of this for toasts etc. Most of us really like it as well, even those of us who do drink.

Thank you for those. smile

Much like you RG I'm not a huge fan of sweet drinks, I've found that sparkling water with a few drops of Angostura Bitters and a wedge of lime is really nice.
