I've been searching for a Port that will best be drunk in 18-21 years time as a present for my Godson. Does anyone here have a particular recommendation? It seems that 1997 's may not last that long, is 2003 a suitable year?
Many thanks
Andrew

They should be able to give you the best advice. I bought a bottle for nearly £100 about 10 years ago for my parents.

I bought a bottle of Dow's 2003 vintage, which is put away for my son's 21st. This was a recommendation from a great Port shop in Tavira, Portugal.

Go to oddbins and spend £30 on a bottle and you will get a really good one that should keep. Remember you will need to decant it before drinking. The cork is not allowed to go back in the bottle (thats why port decanters have a rounded bottom) and the decanter always has to be passed to the left never the right (Its bad luck).

Find Bebs on here.
Use the search for Port. He started a thread just before Christmas.

Why thank you good Sir thumbup

2003 is a great vintage - buy something like Taylor that has had 100 points form Robert Parker and WILL go up in value in time.

Here's a link to my previous Port thread:

Thanks for the tips. I had tried searching but 'port' came up with lots of induction threads!
2003 sounds like a goer, hope my Godson will let me help him drink it when it's ready!
