Hi,

My wife, 5 yr old daughter and I are visiting London in Feb. We've sorted out all the transport/accom/visits and trips etc but the one thing I've realised I've overlooked is where to eat. Yes, I could find somewhere to eat every 10 yds in London, probably, but I want somewhere nice as we don't do this too often. And the advice/recommendations from PHers is always appreciated.

So, I'm looking for some nice restaurants, not too dear (but not kebab-house prices, eithersmile before you ask), not too pretentious - a nice place for us all to sit and eat. We'll probably eat between 6 and 8pm in the evening, if it helps/makes a difference.

Our itin:
Arrive St. Pancras Sunday morning. Off to the zoo (most of the day probably) then go for something to eat after - either local to the zoo or in Wembley (near our accom. - Travelodge).

Monday morning we move down to Southwark for the London Aquarium and London Eye, but i'll be photographing all the sites locally (Tower bridge, St.Paul's etc.), so will need somewhere for lunch and evening meal in that area, please.

Also, as a side, are there any good celeb-friendly restaurants/bars in these areas - as I have my camera with me I may chance a wander past, see who I 'bump into'.

Many thanks in advance,
Scott

Oh, we like most food, but my daughter loves meat and fish!!

There is a place behind Sloane Square called Hunan.
Chinese with a twist.
I may be biased as its owned/run by a mate however everyone we've taken for dinner there absultely loves it.
Thoroughly recommended.

Hi mate

In particular:
Mela and Chowki are excellent for Indian

Pie Room and Coach & Horses are great pubs

Big Easy is a legend of a restaurant, not overly pricey and being on Kings Road, great for celeb watching

Thanks for the input, especially the link.

I'll have a look through that and do some googling see what I can find.

Thanks again,

Scott

I'm a fan of the Tas chain of Turkish restaurants. In Southwark, Bloomsbury etc. Cheap and consistently good.

I asked the same question back in the summer and was directed towards the Rainforest cafe, was great and I'd recomend it to you. The food was very good and my kids loved the experience!

Try Smiths of Smithfield. There is something for everyone, young or old and a great atmosphere too.

if you are in Regents Park, and have kids, I would recommend La Fromagerie in Marylebone.

its nice and informal (but its a class act - imagine the nicest deli you can, then stick 8 tables in it...). Very good light bights to eat (cheese platters, mediterranean vegetables, pates, pastas etc).

Awesome - have been to the RainForestCafe in Chicago, loved it. Didn't know there was one in London. My daughter is animal mad so I think this is a must!!

Haz restaurant - looks great too. Love mixed grills.

Lafromagerie - sounds fantastic. the missus will love that one. Good one for our first day, being in Regents Park.

Excellent, now we're spoilt for choice.

Thanks a lot for all your comments, very much appreciated
