Virgin wine have an offer called winebank. The idea is you pay them so much per month standing order say £50 per month. Every 3 months they give you “Wine interest” so in 3 months time you will have paid in £150, they add another £50 “wine interest” to spend on wine. You can withdraw your money at anytime but not the wine interest that’s just to be used to buy wine.
Ive just started this so will see if it really is as good as it sounds in 3 months time.
Seems to be some decent wines on there that I could be sampling for free.

Tried Virgin, Tescos, Nectar, Times and a few others... will never bother again. All these offers seem to be a way to pass off s
tty stuff you wouldn't even want to pour down the sink for fear of damaging it...
We now go to our local Majestic where they (luckily) have trained staff who know what they're talking about and are prepared to discuss wines and listen to feedback and make further recommendations.

Agree with that.

I've been a Virgin Wine customer for a number of years, and I have noticed that recently, some Chilean and Argentinian stuff has been creeping in (presumably higher margin for VW), which while 'ok', was really nothing to sing about.
However Virgin Wine do have some absolute stars which are unobtainable anywhere else. My favourites:
Soft red:
Simon Coulshaw Coteaux du Langedoc 2007
Aromatic dry white:
Araldica d'Aria Gavi 2007
Majestic have given us a couple of nice surprises:
Soave Classico Suavia 2007 - a lovely white and has lovely citrus flavour.
Castillo Estables Gran Reserva 1999 La Mancha - Tempranillo grape and very quaffable for a weekday slurp.
We were also encouraged to try Green Point Vintage fizz, which is cracking value (IIRC it's made by Moet in Australia)

I sample Tesco wine for free, i.e. if I don't like the first glass I take it back, five or six bottles so far. Never been refused a refund yet.
And how many have you kept?I'd don't think I could do that, if I didn't like it I think I would just drink it faster/bin it and make a note not to buy that one again.

Just thought I'd mention that the above Soave at £9.99 is £3.99 in their Calais store.Soave Classico Suavia 2007 - a lovely white and has lovely citrus flavour.

We live 115 miles from Dover but go over 3 or 4 times a year - you can't get a lot in the boot of an MR2. Majestic refund the £30 seaFrance ferry ticket and we reckon to save several £100 on the wine; same again on the ciggies.

Knew about the refund, but we have a Mondeo hatch, so reckon we cold bring back a tad more than you do with an MR2...
