Ok I know I should get blue mountain beans and have them crushed between a young virgins thighs, but for those days you just can't be bothered whats your favourite pre-ground coffee?

Bag of strong roast beans from whittards and an electric grinder means you can have fresh 'filterable' coffee in seconds.

or use for an americano as I did earlier :P

When I really 'can't be bothered' it's Douwe Egberts instant *shock*

I always thought Illy was for expresso type machines, do they do normal filter coffee as well?

Rude here - we like it. The stuff we bought was smokier than the Illy. I imagine there's a lot of variation though. We bought beans and ground, and prefer the beans. Wish we'd bought a massive bag now.

Carte Noir - it tastes just like french style cafe au lait to me, which is my favourite kind.

yes

My personal choice.

Illy is good, and some of the Starbucks blends are good.

Whittards Monsoon Malabar when I can be bothered to drive to the shop or the Costa strong blend if I have to nip to the supermarket.

Usually Illy or Lavazza
Just finished some Starbucks stuff which I did not like TBH- got it for Xmas, it was very shiny and it seemed to upset my grinder quite a bit
Saturday I was in the wholefoods shop near here and just picked up some fair trade columbian beans and they are gorgeous!
My grinder is happy and I am happy and I'll be going back there for more thumbup

Tend to use the same espresso beans for filter coffee, just don't grind them quite so fine.

Lidel do a surprisingly good one as well which is just fine for gluging.

Every so often I treat myself to a blend of beans a friend makes, magnificent.

I have gone off the Lavazza red. Clipper fairtrade organic now, which I think is great.

Not a fan of Illy or Lavazza, although the tins are cool. Cafe Direct rich roast for me. Or Brian Wogan Mocha beans if I'm grinding them myself.
