Is there enough coffee drinkers here to start a wiki for coffee (freeze-dried, ground and beans) brands/types recommendations?

Might be sacrilege to mention this here but by far the best instant coffee I have ever tasted is. . .Nescafe Espresso. . .cant be beaten! Try it.

I think a coffeepedia thread would be better instead of wiki, i think more people would comment/add to it.

Nescafe Espresso
roflrofl

Really...honestly...try and drink some proper stuff. There's a whole world of good, fresh, aromatic beans out there which can be ground-to-order and brewed as strong/weak as you like it.

Back on-topic, we've tended to use Whittards for convenience, but we did get some from Union Hand-Roasted at the Good Food Show, and while perhaps a little too earthy, the beans are very nice.

Really. . .honestly. . .I have drunk "proper stuff" and ground all the (fresh) beans available. Just suggesting a value alternative, even though its probably the most expensive "instant". On a budget atm wink

Have you tried it?

I have heard that all these pod things and instant espressos use a detergent to create the crema. Would not surprise me as I believe they use a petrol by-product to remove the caffeine out of de-caf coffee.

That is not to say Nescafe Espresso Instant doesn't taste good.
