Bought one of these almost on a whim yesterday to replace our 10 year old Krups which is only rarely used because:

1) I have to get the grinder out, grind the beans, realise the beans have gone a bit off, get new beans, grind beans.
2) Pump seals are starting to fail and it hasn't been putting out pressure in the way that it should.
3) A barely tangible excuse for outlaying money on new kitchen gadgets is one not to be missed.

Anyway I picked up one of these in John Lewis:

Must admit to being seriously impressed with it. The Nespresso sachets (which work out at around 26p each, bought online or in one of their Nespresso "boutiques") produce a really good crema and a thoroughly decent cuppa, either espresso or longo.

The model that I bought has a 19 bar pump, which is well capable of frothing milk for a latte or cappuccino.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to things like this, and I've resisted getting a Nespresso machine because I like the idea of the ritual of preparing coffee in the "right" way. Having knocked up an Espresso Macchiato whilst half asleep at 6:30 this morning in under 5 minutes and with minimal buggering about, I'm now a convert.

So, anyone else got one and have any tips on the best coffee capsules to choose, or how to get the best out of the thing?

We've got a weapons grade one at my office. I was always a bit of a snob with regards to coffee machines too. It's actually pretty good though.

I find the best capsules are the black ones, they're number 9 on the strength scale. They make me go a bit shaky if I have more than 4 or 5 in the morning though.

Prior to the recent Euro exchange "blip" they capsules were hugely cheaper in France.

I have the same one. We bought it 2 years ago and has given faultless service to my coffee-addict in-laws every time they visit.

I need to order some more capsules from 'Club Nespresso' so I may take a look now.

My "introduction pack" of 250 capsules arrived today. Lots of different blends and a nice box to keep about 30 in at once near the machine. I'm impressed!

I have the one in the pic and love it for the same reasons you do.
