I'm attending Rick Steins cookery school on 4th Aug. The course is - The Original Fish & Shellfish Cookery

more info here - http://www.rickstein.com/Original-Fish-and-Shellfi...

Has anyone done this and if so any info would be great.

Cheers

Wife and I have been a couple of times. It's a really fun day, in a pleasant location. Each time we have taken a couple of the dishes and now prepare them regularly (seared tuna, prawns with mango, etc). My advice - have a small breakfast, and try not to drink too much before lunch! Also I would not book a large evening meal at a Stein restaraunt, the evening after the course.

I've been, t'was my 30th present from the wife. It was ok, but it kinda depends on your skills before hand. You'll pick up good tips that you can use, but I was hoping for a bit more in terms of learning technical skills.

As above, eat light because there is plenty of food to munch on and all the staff are excellent.

Let us know how it goes mate. I'm tempted to do either this one or a HFW River Cottage day myself.

I was just talking about doing a butchery course with my mate as it's the last barrier for us. We have some grand plan of a spot of hunting for eating sake...

Ta for that.

As I mentioned in my first reply, it depends on your current skill level, but the River Cottage would prove more useful to me, so you might want to consider that factor for yourself.

Cheers

I'm going to a butchery class next week run by a butchers shop - Ginger Pig. It is Marylebone. I'll post details of how it goes. Did a HFW day last year (building a clay over). The farm is a great place and we learnt a bit, but relatively the Stein day was better value. Interested to hear about a HFW butchers day though.

I went on the same Stein course a couple of years ago and still use the recipes. Second what others have said in that its a really fun day out and the chefs were very passionate about fish and the local produce. You will eat well so avoid the full english breakfast. Excellent if you are a relative fish/shellfish novice.

I'd like to go back and do another course

"Padstein" and the local beaches are excellent too

Enjoy lick
