hi ross,
if in didsbury, try the lime tree on lapwing lane. very very good:

try the search function as there are a few threads on manc. restaurants. the consensus amongst many [myself included] is either the cedar tree on thomas street [fantastic lebanese] or sams chop house on back pool fold [trad. brit.]. have heard a few bad experiences with sams of late though.
another worth a mention is kosmos, a greek place in fallowfield [wilmslow road].
ignore the exterior and decor in both the cedar tree and kosmos. food is superb, especially the former.
