We live in a country where the broadsheets misuse apostrophes.

I'm fairly sure that as a result correct fermented orchard fruit nomenclature is beyond most people.

Got me some of that there ciderz in Sweden the other week.

Kopperberg it was, but a Super Strength tramp juice version. Still tastes exactly like fizz pop, I blame those Cider lollies we had as kids

We've got some Bulmers Pear Cider in the fridge - can't tell the difference between that and real cider.

As Plotloss alluded to: cider = apples, perry = pears. 100% pear cider is akin to 100% lager mild.

If you can find it on the handpump, try Broadoak Perry.

7.5 volts.

Anything else that purports to be perry is no better than Babycham; IM - of course - VHO

It's fking perry. Cider is made from fking apples. Pear cider is not fking cider. It's fking perry. That fking "pear cider" advert with that wimpy boils my fking piss.

Sorry - I have the hangover from hell due to drinking too much Thatchers Vintage Cider (made from apples)last night

A hissy fit worthy of a babycham quaffing, screaming bender.

Point of order: as Oz & James revealed in their recent series:
- cider is made from apples.
- pear cider is made from pears.
- perry is made from only one particular variety of pear (called Perry) that only grows in and around the Shropshire/Monmouthshire borders.

So there. nerd

I'm with this man. They also said that there simply wasn't enough of the perry pear around to be able to keep up with mass demand.

The power of marketing.
You can buy a 1 litre bottle of sparkling perry in Asda for £1.08, and it is perfectly pleasant unassuming quaffable stuff too. Infact it tastes virtually the same as all the fancy 'pear ciders' on the market that cost 3 times as much. From memory (having not had a pear cider phase for ages) it is only the Kopparberg that actually tastes of pears and is worth paying the premium over perry for...

Remember a bar in nottingham called Junckton 7 used to sell a "Junckton snakebite"

Consisted of half Erdinger and half Kopparberg pear cider which in the glass would seperate into two levels in the glass..pretty cool and they got you quite tankered...

Its alright as a cooking cider, for maximum efficiency however.
