Anyone know any? Looking for somewhere with good food, good beer garden, good views out in the sticks in Cheltenham/Gloucester area, preferably south of Cheltenham.

Basically good place to go with a lady.

The Puesdown on the A40 between Cheltenham and Burford. Very nice pub....the 3C TVRCC have their monthly meets there.

Used to be a frequent visitor to The Swan @ Coombe Hill...either that or as said The Rising Sun at the top of Cleeve Hill.

Cheers guys, looks like the Rising Sun could be the destination. If it leads to some action I'll post the pictures here..... or maybe not.

Go to Bourton-on-the-Water on a warm sunny day and then take your pick of eateries.

She will be yours for ever.

Seriously.

Actually although rising sun is nice (nice walk round the hills after if your into that kind of thing) nothing beats bourton-on-water and taking here round Birdland...

I would second that recommendation.

Unfortunatly it is North-East of Cheltenham rather than South though.

Is the Green Dragon still going? Probably changed hands several times since I last went there mind.

Bourton is definitely nice. But, as you say, somewhat out of the way.

Green Dragon is a good shout. Rising Sun has a great view but nothing else, the pub itself is crap and the road below is always busy. For a bit of peace and quiet head my way.........

South of Cheltenham - The Butchers Arms, Sheepscombe
The Woolpack, Slad

Go that bit further to Stroud and try The Halfway House, The Lodge or The Ragged Cot all on Mincinhampton Common. Also The Crown at Frampton Mansell or The Kings Head in France Lynch for a real quiet one.

Or if rubbing shoulders with celebs is your bag, the Bell at Sapperton is popular.

Agreed. Forget Bourton and the tourist trail. The Stroud Valleys and surrounding villages have some of great pubs and stunning scenery.

Careful now! Don't go telling them about the really good pubs, we want to keep those for ourselves wink

Good Point. The Rising Sun is a great suggestion, I'd go there every time!
