Anyone tried it and if so, what's it like?

I was sorely tempted last night but ultimately plumped for the (not so hot) Hot Piri Piri Nandos job.

I tried some the other week as i normally go with Newmans Own - rank stuff in the extreme, very vinegary had to throw it and make my own, i'll stick to Newmans in future.

I once went to TGIs to be told they had run out of JD BBQ sauce. We ate elsewhere.
As above, make it yourself (something else I must try)
Failing that, just throw some JD in with some BBQ for a quick fix!

I used the JD full flavour smokey one last night to do pork fillet kebabs on the barbie and the best I can say about it is that it was OK - not very flavoursome but not offensive in any way. Don't think I would bother trying it again to be honest.

to be fair grilling != barbecue and therefore barbecue sauce won't really be doing its job....its designed to keep slow-cooked foods from drying out...and as a dipping sauce smile

cheat.

set your oven to 80 degrees (use an oven thermometer) and cook marinated meat sloowwwwly for 3 or 4 hours, basting every hour.

then finish on a charcoal fire with lots more basting for the final smokey flavour.

takes a while, but well worth it for at least the proper BBQ texture and MOST of the taste.

It really isn't that hot is it? I've had to add Tabasco to it.

I usually just get some shop brought bbq sauce, add a little honey then stir in the JD.

It might not be posh but it works!!
